What is ICNA?
Islamic Circle of North America is an Islamic Jama'a
(organized group) and movement.
When was it established?
ICNA was formally established in North America in 1971, although its
origin dates back to 1968. At that time, several concerned North
American Muslims initiated a plan to launch an Islamic Movement in this
continent. The idea was to inspire and help Muslims adopt and practice
the Islamic way of life and share it with fellow residents.
What is the message of ICNA?
ICNA is dedicated to propagate the same eternal Message of submission to
the Almighty that has been taught by all the Messengers of Allah.
This s been laid upon the Muslim community as indicated by the Last
Prophet of Allah, Muhammad (pbuh).
ICNA works among both Muslims and non-Muslims in order to present Islam, the divinely ordained way of life, as the complete code for living, there by encouraging all to enter within its fold.
ICNA invites humanity to accept the Qura'n and the example of Prophet (Sunnah) as the final source of divine guidance in all aspects of life, individual and collective.
ICNA also seeks to remind the Muslim Ummah of its duties and responsibilities as representative of Islam to mankind.
What is goal of ICNA?
The goal of ICNA shall be to seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT) through
the struggle of Iqamat-ud-Deen (establishment of the Islamic system of life) as
spelled out in the Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
What is ICNA's methodology?
a)ICNA holds the Qura'n and
Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as the primary source of guidance.
b) ICNA uses all possible democratic, legal and peaceful means according to the Islamic principles to disseminate the message of Islam.
What is ICNA's program?
- To motivate Muslims to perform their duty of being witnesses onto mankind
- To invite mankind to submit to the Creator by using all means of communications.

- To offer educational and training opportunities to increase Islamic knowledge, to enhance character, and to develop skills for all those who are associated with ICNA.

- To strengthen the bond of humanity by serving all those in need anywhere in the world, with special focus on our neighborhood across North America.
- To cooperate with other organizations for the implementation of this program and unity in the ummah.
What are the activities of ICNA?
How is the leadership elected?
ICNA General Assembly Members elect the Ameer for two-years term through secret ballot. There is no candidacy or canvassing in the election. Knowledge, piety, sacrifice for the cause of Islam, sound decision-making and administrative capabilities are the basic conditions in the leadership election.
What is organizational structure of ICNA?
A: Elected National President appoints Vice President and Seceraty General. A counciling commette (Majlis-e-Shura) is elected to advise the President. There are different geographical regions, and each region has a Regional President. At local level, national organizational structure is adopted. Who can become member of ICNA?
A: Any Muslim who agrees with goal and mission of ICNA, can become member.
What are the financial sources of ICNA?
A: There is no membership fee to join ICNA. So ICNA runs its services through a large number of volunteers and members. Members of Muslim communities living in the United States, members of ICNA, and other individual donate money for various projects. ICNA is a tax-exempted, non for profit organization.
